I attended Augustana College
in Rock Island, Illinois, where I majored in mathematics.
I completed the Ph.D. in Computer Science at
The University of Iowa in 1987,
and I have been a member of the Department of Computer Science at
St. Cloud State University
since 1989.
My research focuses on evolutionary computation, particularly representations
and operators in evolutionary algorithms for combinatorial problems, though
I have also written on other topics. My
Erdös number
is no more than three.
