In 1928, gasoline from a leaking storage tank seeped into the
building next to the tanks. When Emil Sando turned on the
light switch in the building it exploded. Emil was badly burned,
and there is a link at the bottom of this page to go to his story.

The tanks and building were in the vicinity of the water tower.

These incredible photos were taken by Florence Niemann with
a plain box camera. Florence was a senior in high school then.
