Voice Proficiency

MUSP 116-536 applied voice lessons

This course consists of weekly voice lessons and studio class in which healthy vocal technique, appropriate repertoire, and a classical vocal aesthetic are addressed. Admittance is through audition only.

MUSE 442/542 vocal pedagogy

Designed for current and future teachers of voice and/or choral music, this course will cover relevant anatomy and physiology of the body as relates to sound production and singing; the function and mechanics of the human voice for singing; stages of vocal development; healthy vocal training; techniquest of listening and diagnostic skills. Students may be required to demonstrate his/her developing skill through a practicum of lessons in front of the class; each graduate student may also present a research project on a relevant topic of his/her choice.
