From the Editor

I am proud and honored to present the 2007 issue of Kaleidoscope. The works published here represent a great amount of creative and artistic talent, and shows the courage of people who teach, attend, or work at St. Cloud State University. I strongly believe that art, whether it is photo, fiction, non-fiction, or poetry—all of which are represented here—can be very personal. Therefore, I want to thank all the individuals who submitted their works for this year’s issue. Obviously, there would be no Kaleidoscope if not for the brave individuals who submit their artistic pieces.

I often feel that people are wary of submitting to Kaleidoscope because we are a multi-cultural magazine. “I don’t have stuff written about anything multi-cultural” people tell me time and time again when I encourage individuals to submit. I understand their trepidation. I wish I had some snappy or witty response for them, but all I can offer is this: to me, culture can mean and be a great number of things, and multi-culturalism celebrates the differences of our world’s many cultures. The pieces published here represent multi-culturalism on many levels, and that is a good thing. Everyone interprets multi-culturalism in different ways, and to me, that is a part of what multi-culturalism is.

That said, here is the 2007 issue of Kaleidoscope.
