Greetings Reader!

Welcome to the 2008 edition of Kaleidoscope, SCSU's multicultural literary magazine. For this next part you will need to get a mirror...

One definition of reflective is, "that which is characterized by or given to meditation or contemplation; thoughtful." Symmetry is defined as, "beauty as a result of balance or harmonious arrangement." What could be more fitting for a multicultural magazine? Another interesting thing about the word "kaleidoscope" is that it comes from the Greek words "kalos" (beautiful), and "eidos" (shape or form). I think you will agree that the forms contained on these pages are very beautiful.

Before you begin reading, I want to thank all the people who contributed the many wonderful submissions we reviewed this year. Without you there would be no Kaleidoscope. And an enormous thank you to all who assisted with the planning and production of this year's Kaleidoscope: the judges, editors, Adam our graphic designer, Carol our director, Jon our web designer, those who volunteered to hang posters and make announcements in their classes, and everyone who happened to be in the line of fire when I needed an opinion! All of your help made Kaleidoscope happen. Finally, thank you to the SCSU Cultural Diversity Committee, whose continued funding makes this publication possible.

Now, enjoy this beautiful KALEIDOSCOPE of writing and photography contained on these pages, and consider submitting your own unique perspective in the future...
