1 March trip to Füssen and the Castles

This was our first tour run by the students. We traveled to the city of Füssen and toured the Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein castles. Photographs are not allowed inside either castle.

Train ride to München

First leg of the train ride and Eric can't hold back the enthusiasm.

It Gets Better

Next leg of the train ride, and Seth has to join the festivities.

Füssen

Train stops here. On to the castles.

Hohenschwangau

This is the shorter hike to get there.

Hohenschwangau

Interesting castle, though much smaller than Neuschwanstein. I still can't pronounce it.

Evidence

Can't do a tour without something for the folks back home.

Schwangau

This is the small village between the castles. Wimps can take a bus or carriage.

The Hike

Now wimps on this trip

Neuschwanstein

This is a view from about halfway up the hike.

Skiing

There is a ski area right next to the castles. The director was stuck waiting for a tour without a snowboard.

Neuschwanstein

View from inside the courtyard.

Neuschwanstein

Entrance to the courtyard.

St. Mary's Bridge

The view from the bridge is supposed to be fantastic. The trails to get there were closed on this day.

München Hauptbanhof

After a long day, the train station (and dinner) were a needed break.
