effulgent

Effulgent means "Shining forth brilliantly; sending forth intense light; resplendant, radiant." It rhymes with "indulgent."

It should be noted that "refulgent" also exists as a word, and it has a very similar definition, except that somehow the light is more a reflection and less an emission.

This discussion is based on the definition of the word effulgent in the first edition of the Oxford English Dictionary, which requires a little explanation.
