SCSU SURVEY OF SCSU STUDENTS
FREQUENCIES/POWERPOINTS/LINKS TO SOME OF THE EXTENDED REPORTS
[Last revised
These are the weighted
overall frequencies; most of the PowerPoint’s and links to some of the extended
reports prepared by the student directors. See methodology statement for more
methodological details.
For most results use the
valid %. Normally, the small amount
that refused is excluded from survey analysis. Also watch skip patterns as some
questions have fewer respondents as respondents may not have been asked the
question. Sometimes, respondents who state doesn’t know, etc. may be excluded
in an analysis.

books elsewhere.

TUITION QUESTIONS
About 7 of 10 favor a “banded” tuition
proposal
If tuition increases most say they will
get another job, work more hours or take out more loans
When asked how much tuition would have
to increase before taking less credits, quitting, etc. the mode is 0. However,
the median and mode is between $500 and $800 dollars.
Question QTUIT1
Thank you. Now I have questions about SCSU tuition.
Currently, SCSU students
pay tuition according to the number of credits
they
take, regardless of the number of credits taken. Some have
proposed
to change the way that tuition is paid.
Students would
continue
to pay for each credit taken up to 12.
However, if a student
took
from 12 to 21 credits, they would pay at the same rate of 12 credits.
In other words, credits
13 to 21 would not cost anymore than 12 credits.
Do you strongly favor,
favor, oppose, or strongly oppose SCSU adopting
this
method of calculating tuition?

Question QTUIT2
Tuition at most colleges
and universities will likely see increases
in
the near future. This year, SCSU tuition
alone cost about $3,900
for
a 30-credit schedule. Some have
suggested that SCSU tuition
will
increase 10% or more in the next year. A
10% increase in
tuition
would increase the current cost by $400 per year.
In future years, if these
increases continue many students may need
to
make some educational decisions. Which
decisions are you likely
to
make? (READ CHOICES 1-5 AND CHECK ALL

COMPUTER FEE AND USE QUESTIONS
LINK TO SCSU COMPUTER FEE AND USE QUESTION
REPORT
Students continue to be satisfied with
the use of the computer fee but continue to oppose an increase in the fee for
closed labs. [NOTE: see past SCSU
student surveys for findings over time].
Question QCOMP1
Thank You! Now I would like to ask you some
questions
about
computer usage and computer fees on campus.
Currently, SCSU students
pay a general computer fee of $4.00
per
credit hour. The fee is used to maintain
and improve the
availability
and usage of computer facilities, such as open
labs
like the one in the
dialup
computer access to the campus network and to maintain
some
of the electronic classrooms. This fee
is not used to
support
curriculum-related labs, such as those maintained by some
departments
for use only by that department's majors.
Generally,
are
you very satisfied, satisfied, not satisfied, or not at
all
satisfied with the student-related computer services
available
to all students?

Question QCOMP2
Currently, the $4.00 per
credit hour fee you pay cannot be used
to
support the operation of closed computer labs, such as those
maintained
by some departments for use only by that department's
majors. Do you strongly agree, agree, disagree, or
strongly disagree
with
imposing an additional fee of $1.40 per credit to support closed
computer
labs on campus?
