Text: Differential Equations, 3rd Edition, by Blanchard, Devaney and Hall. We will cover Chapters 1.1-1.8, 6.1-6.4, 2.1-2.4, 3.1-3.7, and 4.1-4.4, in that order. If time permits, we might cover Sections 6.5 and 6.6, Sections 2.5 and 3.8, Sections 5.1 and 5.2, or Appendix B.

Tests: There will be three tests: Thursday September 24, Tuesday, October 29, and Thursday, December 3. The material for each test will be announced a week before the test. Each test will be 20 percent of your grade. Tests will be drawn largely (but not completely) from the associated homework. No calculators on tests.

Homework and Quizzes: Homework will be assigned but not collected. There will be a quiz on Thursdays, with problems mostly drawn from the homework. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped. Quizzes are 15 percent of your grade.

Final: The final for the 8am class is Tuesday, December 15, at 7:30am. The final for the 9:15 class is Thursday, December 17, at 7:30am. You must take the final for the class in which you are registered. If you miss the final, you will be given an F in the class. The Final Exam schedule is here .

Etiquette: Among other things: don't be late, don't talk in class, don't do other work in class, no laptops. I reserve the right to cut the grade of offenders by a third for each incident.
