Transportation:

San Francisco is served by two major airports: SFO and Oakland.  SFO is slightly closer, but Oakland sometimes has better fares.

Directions by car to the USF go to: http://www.usfca.edu/online/about_USF/

Each of the airports is served by BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit, a light rail system).  ($5.15 from Oakland or $4.95 from SFO) as well as an array of door-to-door limo services.  The limo services cost about $15/one-way.  Shuttle reservations from SFO can be made in advance with American Airporter Shuttle (415-202-0733) or Bay Shuttle (415-564-3400).  More options are available at <http://www.flysfo.com>. From Oakland, there are smaller companies typically available at the shuttle waiting area; see <http://www.flyoakland.com>.  A taxi will cost at least $45 dollars.

If you choose to take BART, you will have to transfer to the MUNI bus to reach the hotel or university.  If you wish directions, go to http://transit.511.org/ and click on the “Trip Planner.”  Or, contact me, and I can give you detailed instructions.

Accommodations:

Rooms are reserved at two locations.  The first is slightly nicer, but both are excellent hotels in convenient and interesting neighborhoods.  Both are also an easy bus ride to campus, or a walk of 20 minutes or less.  (We expect to have a shuttle run between the inns and the campus in the morning and evening.)

Travel Stipends for Graduate Students

The Society has some funds available for graduate students who are presenting a paper at the conference.  If you would like to be considered for these funds, please mention this in your letter of submission.  As funds for Travel Stipends are limited, we encourage you to seek funding for travel from your home institution as well.  If such funding is not likely or possible, please mention it in your letter of submission .
